Recorded with the best of the Cuban music scene, the fourth album of Grupo Compay Segundo is a brilliant return to the traditional Cuban Son.

Compay Segundo left us in 2003 and his life and stage companions decided to continue what he had always wanted - "Tocar Música tradicional Cubana!"

Compay Segundo y sus Muchachos became El Grupo Compay Segundo and these tireless compañeros travelled the world with the will to tell, "the story of their Compay".

"Vivelo" will be released in October 2022 and, for the first time in the history of the Grupo, 8 original tracks will be co-written by Salvador Repilado, Compay's son, bassist and historical musical director, and one of Cuba's rising stars, Maikel Dinza. He has collaborated with many Cuban artists and received numerous musical awards including the prestigious Cubadisco.

This new album marks a turning point in their career. At the same time, it is more personal, retaining the know-how of Compay's music while placing Vivelo at the heart of contemporary Cuban music. The osmosis between the tradition of the sound and the modernity of today's music works wonderfully and for this reason they will welcome the best of Cuban music, Issac Delgado, Julio Padrón, Alexander Abreu, Sory Pérez and Rolando Luna. In terms of covers, this new opus unveils a revisited version of San Luisera, which Compay already sang in the 1940s with Los Compares, and an incredible adaptation in Spanish of “Les Mains d'Or” by the most Cuban of French artists, Bernard Lavilliers.

Listening to this album, the clash of generations is a success, and the the arrangements wrap everything up beautifully.
